Partnerships and LLPs
Our partnerships group is long-established and regularly advises firms and individuals across a wide range of issues.
Our clients cover a variety of partnerships, including accountancy firms, architects, surveyors, investment funds and other law firms. We regularly advise on partnership matters; individuals planning to join or leave partnerships or in dispute with them; investment funds being established as limited partnerships; the formation of limited liability partnerships (LLPs); and conversion to LLP status.
We are particularly well-known for our expertise in the area of professional liability, where we regularly both defend and pursue claims against professional advisers. Our experience is of particular importance where, not only significant amounts of money are at issue, but also professional reputations. We advise on the whole range of problems facing professionals including regulatory investigations, criminal prosecutions and disciplinary proceedings. Over the years we have acted on a number of high profile and high value claims.
We are also recognised as experts in the niche area of restrictive covenants – and indeed, our head of employment is co-author of the leading legal textbook on the subject.
Finally, as a partnership ourselves, we recognise and understand the particular issues that affect our partnership clients – be they general partnerships, limited partnerships or LLPs. As well as advising the partnership, we also advise individual partners on their relationships with, and duties towards, other partners.
