25 January 2010
International law firm Stephenson Harwood has boosted its commodities team with the lateral hire of Peter Bennett, a specialist commodities partner. Peter joins from Holman Fenwick Willan, where he has spent the past 24 years, becoming a partner in 1993.
Peter has built a strong reputation in his market and is especially well known for advising high profile clients in the coal, metals, minerals and energy sectors. Peter's experience covers a broad spectrum of contentious and non-contentious advice, with particular expertise in drafting trading financing and supply contracts; advising on swaps and derivatives; and litigation and arbitration. He is recommended for international arbitration and litigation in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners directories.
Haris Zografakis, head of commodities at Stephenson Harwood, said: "Peter's appointment is great news for us. He will be joining a thriving commodities practice which acts for some of the most active players in the market. Peter is a first-class commodities lawyer who is trusted by many of the top names in our market. His appointment will boost our expertise and our market reputation in the area of 'hard' commodities – coal, metals and minerals – where we are keen to further enhance our presence."
Peter Bennett added: "I am delighted to be joining Stephenson Harwood's commodities team. The quality of the people, their work and their client base will provide an excellent platform for further developing the profile and the range of work of an already strong practice."
